Sunset at the Beach

It’s been a great summer of going out on staycation “missions.” I hope you’ve taken the challenge to get outside, experience and discover more. It bears repeating that it doesn’t take a lot of time or distance to turn a simple idea into an adventurous reality.

September means back to school, but that doesn’t mean the end to enjoying summer. The shorter days bring earlier sunsets. That means you can still get the family out to enjoy a sunset together and get the kids to bed at a reasonable hour. Cap off your summer staycation season with a special sunset on a beach or by a lake with a campfire where permitted.

Catching a gorgeous sunset can happen anywhere, but as I mentioned in my previous Urban Cookout post, it involves just a little more effort to take your activity to the next level. Adding a small campfire can make the moment that much better, extending your outing beyond sunset. Think warmth, glow and roasted marshmallows!
Depending on your location, finding a spot where you can legally and safely have a campfire/bonfire is a consideration. Check with your local authorities for regulations and details. Once you have chosen a location, gather up your gear and snacks and make sure to get there a little early to grab your spot. We kept it simple on our outing and picked up some marshmallows to roast. You can’t go wrong with the classic s’more!

When we’re out in front of the fire, our kids love their Coleman Extra-Large Quad Chairs. Let’s just say I’m glad we each have our own chairs because if we had to fight for them I’d lose every time. If you’re bringing food and drinks, keep it all cool in the Coleman Wheeled Xtreme Cooler. As the sun sets, you’ll be glad you brought along the
Coleman Divide & Twist Lantern
to light up your surroundings and get you back to your vehicle safely.

I hope you’ve been inspired to get outside for summer staycations. Canada has so much to offer. We’re the second biggest country in the world so you’re unlikely to run out of ideas and destinations!
