Summer can get sticky, icky and hot. Sometimes, you just want to take off all of your clothes and get naked. If you prefer stripping down without scandalizing your company (we do), we’ve got the best skinny dipping spots across the country.
Hanlan’s Point
Toronto, Ontario
Hanlan’s Point is a public beach on the Toronto Islands. We’ll be honest, sometimes it plays host to a colony of nudists, but join the clan for a day. In 2002, the City of Toronto designated a one kilometre stretch to be clothing optional. No judgement here, so bare all in the buck at Hanlan’s Point. Take the ferry, but leave the swimsuit behind!
The Grotto
Bruce Peninsula, Ontario
We’d only heard of The Grotto in the Playboy mansion, but apparently Georgian Bay has one too. Naturally, we’re pretty curious. We found that The Grotto is a popular swimming spot, so if you’re getting naked, do it at sunrise or sunset. Keep it classy Canada.
Sooke Potholes Provincial Park
Vancouver Island, British Columbia
Pop in a pothole in Sooke, B.C. I know what you’re thinking – it doesn’t sound that glamorous. Think about it this way, it’s A Midsummer’s Night Dream-inspired frolic in the forest. Be like Puck in the buck. There are many pool-like potholes to pick from and the water is clear and cool. Cool off from the hot.
Oka Park
Lac des Deux Montagnes, Quebec
Oka Park, Lac des Deux Montagnes has been clothing optional since the 1940’s. While nudity is not officially recognized, it’s accepted. Feel like the original Adam & Eve. Welcome to heaven for naturists.
Algonquin Park
Algonquin Provincial Park, Ontario
Take a second to cool off and be free like an animal - in all ways possible. With the size of this park, it’s never difficult to find a secluded spot. Ontario Parks is protecting the rivers in this area, so the waters are quite nice. Get nude, dude.
Garibaldi Lake
Fraser Valley, British Columbia
Wakie, Wakie, time to get nakie! Get up early and greet the morning with a skinny dip. The view of the mountains is fantastic, but why not add your own scenery into the mix? Make your own waves in the pristine waters of Garibaldi Lake.
Wreck Beach
Vancouver, British Columbia
Clothing optional. Wreck beach is an internationally acclaimed nude beach. It’s also North America’s largest. Every year they host a Bare Buns Run and people jump into the water for a post-run dip as a group. If you’re proud of what your mama gave ya, get naked at wreck beach – just make sure to look people in the eyes.
Crystal Crescent Beach
Halifax, Nova Scotia
Crystal Crescent Beach, the only place that offers a crescent, but guarantees a full moon. There are perils when it comes to skinny dipping, but at least you’ll be discovering a whole new colour of sand stuck in your nether-regions. Hello, white sand!
Wasaga Beach
Simcoe County, Ontario
If you ask any of the baby boomers about Wasaga beach, they’ll tell you about driving there in a Camaro with a group of friends and spending the day listening to awesome music. Not much has changed. Party, get sweaty, but remember when you get slick you should take a dip!
Cabin Lake
North Vancouver, British Columbia
People know Cabin Lake for its hiking trails, but let’s get serious. After a big exhausting hike – all we want to do is take off our clothes and cool down. When you’re done getting fit, you need to strip and dip!
